Rob Norris for Mayor (Saskatoon)

The first words that come to mind when I think of Rob Norris are neoliberal and chamber of commerce. Based upon some of my research on the candidate I would qualify him as a standard issue. What I mean by that is that he seems to have very little of an agenda and that agenda that he seems to have at the moment is reducing the cost of getting a business license (based upon reporting from Global and the subsequent retweet from the candidate)

As a minister of the crown I was surprised at how little he had spent in terms of public dollars when it came to conferences and the like. For example, at the second annual textbook summit that was held in 2014, his expenses along with 2 other people was $94 for meal expenses. This was over 2 days, which would have meant that each participant spent less that $10 per meal assuming the conference did not include a working breakfast and lunch. That combined with the approximate annual salary of $48,000 ,being a minister of the crown, seems to make the candidate fiscally attractive.

That being said, I have my concerns and reservations with the way the province has acted over the last number of years with regards to the Regina bypass and Global transportation hub. This candidate was a senior member of the government at the time and I think he needs to be pressed on those issues considering there is a possibility that the government in Regina might be in a position to build an overpriced and unneeded ring road around Saskatoon.

I am however in favour of his views on nuclear energy being a clean fuel in comparison to what we have at the moment. I disagree with (based upon retweets) that private entities should be building and running these plants in Saskatchewan (Bruce Power).

In conclusion and the only one I can make at the moment is that Rob Norris will be our Kamala Harris.
